We Debate Growth, Ice Baths, And A Hall Of Fame for Teachers w/ Mike Hamrick

Anthony Dinges Season 2 Episode 11

Send us a text

Friday night lights, changing streets, and a cold plunge that might actually fix your mood—this one moves. We start on the field with a rapid-fire rundown of local high school football, including Handley’s rough day against Kettle Run and what really swung the game: protection, turnovers, and field position. From there, we look ahead to this week’s matchups and plant our flags on the picks that matter.

Then we take on Winchester’s new face. With the old Montgomery Ward site cleared, the city feels like it’s shifting toward dense, mixed-use living—think townhouses near a Publix, restaurants, and big stations. Some folks are here for it; others miss the slower, smaller vibe. We chart a middle path: keep the character of Old Town, invest in everyday activities families ask for—another bowling alley, a trampoline park, roller rinks, even Topgolf vibes—and bring back community anchors like the family drive-in. Growth should make staying local irresistible.

Our guest steps in with an ice bath routine that’s more than hype. Three minutes cold after fifteen in the sauna, five days a week, and the payoff is clearer focus, lower stress, and steadier energy. We talk dopamine, norepinephrine, and how to start at home with a cool shower without white-knuckling it. If your brain’s been running hot, this is the reset you can actually try.

We also float a big idea: a Hall of Fame for teachers. Athletes get banners; educators deserve a hall. We propose criteria that weigh longevity, mentorship, extracurricular leadership, community impact, and peer nominations, then shout out the teachers and coaches who built our backbone. Add in some college and NFL heat, fantasy chatter, and our local picks, and you’ve got a packed, thoughtful hour that feels like home.

If this hit the spot, follow the show, share it with a friend who loves Winchester, and leave a quick review. Tell us your teacher nominees and whether you’re brave enough for a cold plunge—we’ll read the best on air.

SPEAKER_02:

Ladies and gentlemen got your platform ready and your Snickers bars and your ice creams, whatever, because it's showtime.

SPEAKER_01:

Showtime.

SPEAKER_02:

Ladies and gentlemen, Tony and Tuck, class of 97, class of 99. Introduced in the night our our homeboy Mike Hamrick, aka Buff City. He's coming back to show us some class. Shout him out, man. Mike coming on, man. We're going to talk about a few things. Shout out to Troy Sloan, class of 97. Had a topic that we're going to discuss is um should there be a Hall of Fame for teachers, sort of like there is for the student athletes. And um, we're getting into that. We're getting into the uh effects mostly positive of taking ice baths. And we're also gonna talk about uh Montgomery Wards and the ever-changing landscape of Winchester that's been happening, you know, because we've all grown up there and things are changing. So yeah, we're gonna get it all out, ladies and gentlemen. But in the meantime, you guys know what it is. It's just like Sunday morning, it's kickoff. Tony, go ahead.

SPEAKER_04:

It's the kickoff. It's the kickoff. Well, everybody, welcome to uh brothers with opinions. And as usual, I try to start off with local sports and scores. So uh going back to last week, uh yeah, Haley lost. Friday night, Friday night games. Well, you want to do Friday first? Yeah, we'll do Friday.

SPEAKER_02:

Friday happens before Saturday.

SPEAKER_04:

All right, that's true. All right, so James Wood defeated Millbrook 54 to 35.

SPEAKER_02:

James Wood, no lie, man. I know I'm cutting you off real quick, but ladies and gentlemen, I don't live down there, so I don't know everything from what I read and hear. James Wood, Tony, I think they're they're an offensive powerhouse. They they've been beaten, so they can be beat, but I think they're legit, man.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, I'm with you. I told you it would be the surprise team this year, and they're showing it. So yeah, they seemed they defeated 54 to 35. I mean, I heard yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Against a local rival school in Millbrook, man, that's a lot of points.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, it is. So Skyline defeated Falkier 38 to 7. Warren County beat Manassas Park 50 to nothing. The battle of the two winless teams.

SPEAKER_02:

The one that scored 50 is way better.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, that just tells you how bad Manassas Park is. Like, because Warren County won a game. Who scored 50? Warren County.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, nice. And I knew I wanted to look, guys, shout out to Front Roar. I wanted them to win, so the 50 to nothing. I bet the Casey boys in all of them was out there getting busy.

SPEAKER_04:

Right. So, and then the Liberty defeated Brentsville 29 to 20. And then moving on, we had uh Strasburg over Page County, 35 to nothing. Man, a lot of shutouts.

SPEAKER_02:

What's Strasburg's record?

SPEAKER_04:

A lot of shutouts, man. I think they're undefeated. I think they're 6-0. Strasburg? Yeah, six or seven. How many games they've played yet? I think they're undefeated. I could be mistaken, but I don't think they've lost a game yet. And then uh Central beat Clark County. Another shit 48 to nothing.

SPEAKER_02:

Clark County hasn't won yet either.

SPEAKER_04:

They're young. I've heard through sort, you know, basically they're rebuilding. Like they're a very young team, I heard. Like they lost everybody.

SPEAKER_02:

Hey, I got a hot topic for you. Shout out to my boys, Big Mike and Big Dwayne. Hey, hot topic. What's going on with Clark County? Because you guys are two legends, man, but they haven't won a game.

SPEAKER_04:

Nope. Then Larae over Madison County, 54 to 49.

SPEAKER_02:

Wow. 54 to 49?

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

103 points between two schools. And damn, that must have been a hell of a game to be at. Right.

SPEAKER_04:

So now moving on to our friends over in West Virginia. Martinsburg beat Morgantown 34 to 6.

SPEAKER_02:

And they've only lost the first two games of the year. They've won every game since. They played those two big teams and they've won all since. Right.

SPEAKER_04:

And then Washington defeated Southern 28-12. Albert Gallatin. Gallatin defeated Hedgesville 40 to 14. And Musselman defeated Boosboro 37 to 14. Now on to Saturday games. How many games are Saturday? Jefferson actually played on Jefferson High School in West Virginia. So they played George Washington, went 34-33. And then Hanley.

SPEAKER_02:

George Washington or Washington and Lee. George Washington. What part of West Virginia are they from?

SPEAKER_03:

I don't know. I have to look it up, but they're in West Virginia somewhere. There's so many George Washington schools.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, so Hanley and Haley lost 34-0 to Kettle Run on Saturday.

SPEAKER_02:

34-0. Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have to apologize on behalf of BWO because we hyped them boys up last week. I don't know. They got Christian Dingers, Tony's son out there, 6'4.5, 6'5 receiver, coming out to shine. He might have had four catches for 66 yards, but they put up a donut like they all woke up and went straight to uh Duncan. And he didn't make any difference. Obviously, he made a difference. Honestly, Chris, I've watched. I don't know. Tristian shows up and says, I'm I'm good with basketball. That's coming next one.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, we'll discuss the game real quick. Listen, I was I was listening I was I was there at the game. And I sit back and think about it. The game, dude, the offensive line wasn't blocking for that poor yoga, that quarterback.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, they've been doing it this whole season, outscoring opponents by 30 a game.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. I mean, he had he had no time in his defense, you know, and he's you know, and he hasn't seen a team like Kettle Run. Kettle Run is good. Like they are good. They are welcome, they're athletic.

SPEAKER_02:

They play them every year and they lose every year.

SPEAKER_04:

You know, but in his defense, you know, because at first, like, oh, what is he doing? You know, and you're speaking of my son, let's keep it real. He just got out there learning the plays and this and that. So there was there was miss, but there was miscommunication a lot. You know, you can't blame it on the quarterback all the time.

SPEAKER_02:

I'm honestly not gonna blame it on the coach either. I know that's the easy way to go, but he's five and no. He's still in the state championship last year. Like he's a good coach, but I think maybe if I was there, I would have probably agreed with some of the talk I've heard that he if he didn't make any kind of adjustments, then it makes sense. Like you got 17-nothing in the first half, and then second half.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, that's that's what I'm getting at.

SPEAKER_02:

The thing is he didn't really make any adjustments. I just don't want to put it all on him.

SPEAKER_04:

Look, my son is on the inside. If you listen, Chris, my son is on the inside. I hear this. The thing is, Christian's opinion, and what he says, it's like, hey, coach was calling the right place. The quarterback didn't have time for one, or the QB was making a bad read, the wrong read. You know what I mean? So he's learning too. So he wasn't making the proper decision. So there was people running wide open. He was just making the wrong decision.

SPEAKER_02:

And the pressure was there, which means the offensive line was outdone by the defensive line of cut or run.

SPEAKER_04:

So the thing is, it was a bad game. Like, I mean, it it just it was a waterfall effect.

SPEAKER_02:

They had been hopefully.

SPEAKER_04:

They had a block, block punt. You know, they it didn't start out well. The whole and it just five five picks. Uh yeah, I think believe five interceptions, a fumble.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

So we had six or seven turnovers total, and they scored all three. They had three pick sixes. That's weird. So the defense overall played well for the position they were put in. Like the defense was in a bad spot for like I think it can have run average like under R 35 or something.

SPEAKER_02:

20 points, 21 points.

SPEAKER_04:

And you know, every possession they were on their side, you know, in our territory every time. So the defense overall played well for the position they was put in.

SPEAKER_02:

So I'll put that quarterback controversy to rest off of one game. We'll see. Hey, they're good. He's good. He's five, he's five and oh, now he's five and one. They played the toughest team in the conference, the district.

SPEAKER_04:

We'll see. Hey, my thing is that let's see how they're controversial.

SPEAKER_02:

If Tristan comes back, Tristan's a starter.

SPEAKER_04:

Of course. But my thing is let's see how they bounce back, right? Yeah, yeah. You done got smacked. You done got you done got smacked in the mouth. I'm getting to that, but they done got smacked in the mouth. So let's see how they bounce back. So easy. Haley plays Manassas Park. Or would I just say Moore County just beat Manassas Park 50 to nothing. So anyway, that's homecoming for Haley this weekend. I know that. That's her homecoming.

SPEAKER_02:

They knew what they were doing with that one.

SPEAKER_04:

Then James Wood plays Liberty, Meridian plays Brintsville. And these are Friday night games, folks, because Haley's only Saturday. Uh Morgan County plays Falkier. Now, Skyline and Millbrook, I'm going to. They play this Friday at Millbrook. I'm going to that game. And uh Sharando plays Kettle Run. That'll be at Kettle Run. So we'll see. We'll see. Never know from week to week. And then West Virginia and our friends over there. Washington plays Martinsburg, Musselman plays Hedgesville, and Springbills plays University. So there you go. The re roundup. So hopefully our judges bounce back. I believe they will. I believe it. Let's see.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, of course, it's against a team that's only six or seven.

SPEAKER_04:

So all right. So I think our friend Mike is uh waiting patiently to jump in here. We're about to get him on, and so everybody, let's uh welcome Mike Hamrick, and he's of uh the Post Rhetoric Podcast. Yes, we'll get him on here. Mike, what's up? Hey, what's up, Collins?

SPEAKER_02:

Hey man, Mike.

SPEAKER_04:

Going good, dude. Yeah, man, no problem. Thanks for being on. You're like you're like our biggest supporter. You you like everything, share everything. We love it. Yeah, you guys are great. Thank you. Thank you. Hey, you can you guys do a great job with uh post rhetoric, too.

SPEAKER_05:

Well, I mean, I guess, yeah, I guess so. Not as good as you guys, probably though.

SPEAKER_04:

You guys are way better at the editing and stuff. Well, that's JP.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, JP he is a master at that, I will say.

SPEAKER_04:

He's great at that. We need we need him for BWO. We'll pay him. Yeah. So everyone, we're here and we're gonna start talking about what first, Chris. What time do we want to jump into first?

SPEAKER_02:

Well, I didn't know if you guys wanted to do the show tonight because I was about to go over there and see what I could get at uh Montgomery Wards. Let's try something.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, let's talk about that. Winchester Winchester. I want the Triangle Diner to open back up. But yeah, let's jump into that. Let's talk about how Winchester is growing. People, the logo that's been here for years are not liking it. You know, we're turning into a city, blah, blah, blah. So let's discuss that because what the big one was monkey, the old monkey wards plaza, you know, level, all gone. And they're supposed to build, I guess, what, does everybody know like townhouses or you know, houses, stores, restaurants, everything. And it's like I told my wife, I said, You've been to the city down, like in uh I guess like the herndon area, all that. You know how there's like townhouses just on top of each other, and then like in the it's like a little city to itself or town, and then they have the grocery store and all these little things, like right there, and what like it's a whole community. I guarantee you that's what's gonna be built there. It's gonna be the same thing. It's gonna be a grocery store, that's how they got it started out, yeah. Restaurants in it, whatever. So that's my opinion.

SPEAKER_05:

I heard that too. I thought I heard it's gonna be like townhouses, you know. I heard um Publix is gonna go there.

SPEAKER_04:

Uh that's yeah, that's what I heard. They're gonna bring it a Publix, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

And that's what a big ass gas station kind of like sheets and wahwa.

SPEAKER_04:

What a public regular or is it grocery store? Yeah, it's a grocery chain, yeah. Grocery store.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, yeah, so that's more for that condominium and that but like you said, they're gonna put something over there.

SPEAKER_04:

But I think it's more of a bougie grocery store, isn't it?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, but I think bougie for most of us really only truly means more money.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, true.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, I don't really understand it, man. I rode by there the other day, and it's like it's like a wasteland right now. They just tore everything down, you know, everything out of there. And I don't understand how they're gonna put all that stuff, you know, like the um publics or whatever, and what a townhouses do or condos, they go up, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02:

That's the reason New York where I'm at is so crazy. So then it looks even crazier, right? Yeah, if that I when I was young, I always wish Winchester would have got bigger. I'm always like, where's our big buildings and stuff? And when I was finding George Washington Hotel and the other little brown building in the old town mall, those are my two favorite buildings. I'm like, there's six stories, yeah. Like we didn't have anything, but you you might be right. They Winchester started going that route, kind of like even like a small like Herndon Reston and Chantilly. Well, yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, kind of we have a little bit because look down on Kent Street downtown. Look where they put them what apartments are like right across from the police station.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Where you know on that corner.

SPEAKER_02:

That's Piccadilly.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, on the corner of Kent and uh Piccadilly where Polly's cab and sounds and everything. Yeah, where Polly's cab used to be and the Winchester Lunch.

SPEAKER_02:

Right a few years ago, probably 20 years ago now, Mike. I came back one time and I didn't see the Piccadilly store or nothing. It was like a whole roundabout. I was like, what the fuck is this? I didn't recognize that I was where I grew up.

SPEAKER_04:

I'm like, what right, right?

SPEAKER_02:

So yeah, what's changing a lot, man? What you guys feel about all the changes that's happening?

SPEAKER_04:

Like, good. What do you feel, Mike? You wanna go first?

SPEAKER_05:

I'll go first. I mean, it's go ahead. Go ahead. Can you guys hear me okay and everything? Yeah, yeah. I mean, I feel like they're just putting in like houses everywhere, you know, every piece of land they can. They're putting up houses and you know, changing stuff. And I feel like the population is getting pretty big, you know. Residents living here. I feel like we need more stores and um more grocery stores and more stuff to do. It's just it seems like it's just nothing but houses going up right now. It's crazy. Right.

SPEAKER_04:

I took my totally, and that's what people are complaining. It's like, hey, put more stuff here instead of building townhouses and apartments, give us something to do. That's a good point. Yeah, it's like bars or anything for people to do, but you just bars like that in Winchester, right? Hmm, Mike can answer that question. He's the bar guy.

SPEAKER_02:

Could they closing some bars in some areas, downtown mall? And then even like the place Milano's, I think they might be in danger of closing. There's a lot of things closing, but there's nothing like you said, opening, it seems.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, what just close uh monument, right? It's a big one that was in the newspaper for some reason. Daddy closed down for some reason, or going through something, some contract or something like that. They say they'll be back, supposedly, but we'll see.

SPEAKER_05:

I haven't been downtown in a while, man. I mean, I don't really go out anymore.

SPEAKER_02:

Um, you know, not but past that age, but yeah, Tony don't get it because he still turns up, man. We're older, man.

SPEAKER_04:

Who but I mean, but I mean, what monument, you know, all the bars is a privacy, you know, that's for adult activity, whatever, you know, go out, do something. But like you say, I mean, I think we got plenty of restaurants. I mean, that's all that pops up, too. Restaurants, fast foods, and hotels. But Mike, what you're getting at is like activities for people, like a uh sky zone comes in. Why don't we have a sky zone yet? Like for kids, you know, the trampoline, indoor trampoline park.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that'd be like, yeah, like would they make enough money on it every day? Like, is the population that big yet?

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I believe if Winchester had a sky zone, it would be packed. Like I believe it would. I know there's a top golf plus by, but you know, just something like that. Oh, the club, the closest one, and that's a good one. Top golf.

SPEAKER_02:

Is there a bowling alley yet besides North Side Lanes?

SPEAKER_04:

No, they got it, they got a monopoly on the area. No, it's just North yet. That that hey, that's a great point. My dad years ago looked into opening a bowling alley, Chris, because he was into one that uh bowl of America or something. They told him on the phone they said Northside Lanes has a monopoly in Winchester. He said it'd be a you wouldn't make no money.

SPEAKER_02:

What about skating rinks? Any new that's another one, yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

No skating rink anymore.

SPEAKER_02:

Still old Dominion?

SPEAKER_04:

Right, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

And then if you go out the way by Donnester Lane, go to Max.

SPEAKER_04:

That's what I was gonna say. I was like the closest one is Max, even but I'm sure that's still open. Yeah, it's Max Roller Rink. God, that place is small. Yeah, we used to go there, man. Yeah, I know. I know. Hey, Mike, you're banned when your JP had a bed plate at Max Roller Rink one night, did you?

SPEAKER_05:

That was like probably 20 years ago. Oh my god, a long time ago.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I was I was there. Yeah, what else do y'all think Winchester can do in building? I I bet you watched them say that the politicians or whoever, oh well, we just built y'all to Alamo.

SPEAKER_04:

Right. Well, Alamo's been here how long?

SPEAKER_02:

But for people that want to move slowly, they're gonna be like, nah, we've been we gave you that.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. Oh, I I got a comment. Hey, listen, Chris and Mike. Uh John Natalie, thank you. He says nobody has a better theme song than BWO.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, shout out to the show. I'm with you.

SPEAKER_04:

Shout out to Wuka. We made that well, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Wuka made that song the first year we did it, like right away, actually. So shout out to Jeff.

SPEAKER_04:

We might we might have him do a another one, but yeah, I love I love our theme song, but yeah, I just had to say, but got us off topic a little bit. But yeah, what does Winchester need? I mean, like Mike, you said they're building everywhere they can't do it. Like, you know, over here by Juwa early, right? You go towards the hospital in Meadow Branch. Yeah, they're building more town, like any little patch of grass they find, they're putting something in townhouses. It doesn't matter. So they built more over there. It's crazy.

SPEAKER_05:

And then what it's like I'm just like looking at empty spots of land the other day, driving by or whatever. One day that's gonna be townhouses, one day that's gonna be houses, you know. They're gonna build on it. Right you know, within the next five to ten years.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, yeah, it's sad because we're older, we're used to growing up in a small little town of Winchester. And the thing is, is like guys, I mean, we gotta grow. Every area is growing. There's more people, they gotta build homes. Yeah, it the sad part of it is like there's a give and take. Like maybe, you know, maybe you can keep some little nostalgia. Like, we mess with old town mall. You know, that's basically status unless you know the only thing that changes maybe business is going in and out.

SPEAKER_02:

The best thing would be to me if they open the old town mall back up to driving and turn it back into the room.

SPEAKER_04:

Dude, I said that. Yeah, like open it up so you can drive.

SPEAKER_02:

I would love that. Obviously, I don't live there right now, but I would love that.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I think I mean I'm yeah, I'm for it. Whatever, but then of course a lot of people would say, Yeah, oh no, no, no. It's what you know, it's nice the way it is. But if they but if they open it up, I wouldn't mind it. Like, there's just no street you could drive. But that brings up another good point.

SPEAKER_02:

Um Snow White Grill. Get you a couple sliders and be up. Right.

SPEAKER_04:

Right, right. It's like, damn it, I gotta get out my car, I gotta park. Hey, you might have a you might be onto something if they opened that road up, that little two blocks, three. Yeah, like people would drive by and they'd be tempted to stop. Because it's like you say, because you actually got to get go to and see what's down there. Uh so hey, I'm with you, Chris. Hey, welcome in. CC's on here, jumped on.

SPEAKER_05:

But uh, you know, hey, yeah, so probably if you could drop through there, yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

I'm with you, Chris. But that brings up leads into traffic because everybody bitch about you know, more traffic, more the roads and blah blah blah.

SPEAKER_02:

And I heard people gotta grow, they gotta expand. And if you're gonna have more people, more houses, of course there's gonna be more traffic. But you like you said, you give and take, you take the good with the bad, right? Yeah, would you rather you rather get out of your car and look for parking somewhere and then walk down halfway down the old town mall, or would you just pull right up in front and be like, oh, I already ordered it to go. Here we go. Boop, out. You got your white casket, you're gone.

SPEAKER_04:

Would it be dope if they was like sonic or what they came with girls and roller skates or whatever? Get back to that. Let's take your order, you pull up just in your car, see you get it, and you're out.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, y'all gotta help build it.

SPEAKER_04:

I'm giving them a business idea right there.

SPEAKER_02:

Y'all gotta help revitalize downtown.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, that downtown is actually jumping more.

SPEAKER_02:

Like when I drive, there's a lot of people always walking down there because it's like Mike said to the Hanley Library and go all the way up to the Triangle Diner and make that whole area between it. There's a lot of, yeah, there's and y'all could have a little night light for the younger generation and you know, more jobs.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, there's there's still a lot of business. There's a lot of businesses in there now, so I can't fault with it. There's businesses down there and thriving down there. I just don't know what because like I say, I don't go down there much anymore. You know, my partying days are over. That's the only time I'd really go down there.

SPEAKER_02:

So you better go down there and get you some of the Cork Street Tavern.

SPEAKER_04:

I might go down there to get something to eat. Cork Street was my spot, man. Cork Street was my spot. That's still open, too. Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

You got things down there if they're if they're still there, and I think Cork Street Tavern is still there.

SPEAKER_04:

So, what was it in the Old Town Mall when we were younger, right? Do y'all remember? What stores?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, McCroy's. We're gonna show our age. Shoes. Shoes. There was a whole bunch, man. I don't remember all of them. I just remember the one I walked right in, and to the left, they had a snack area, Slurpees everything.

SPEAKER_05:

Right.

SPEAKER_02:

I loved it.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, we still got Wilkins Shoe Center, but that's all they've been there for.

SPEAKER_04:

How can we forget about Wilkins? Shout out to him.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, because that's where we used to get our shoes for basketball.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, he's still he still helps the community with shoes. He comes to Daniel Morgan every year. He goes to hand.

SPEAKER_02:

Is that still alive?

SPEAKER_04:

Not uh who it's the sun, right? I believe now. I was just curious.

SPEAKER_02:

How about saying man? That's forty, 30, 40 years ago.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, they it's the sun, you know, he got passed down. But yeah, my fault. I can't remember the guy's name. But yeah, he comes to Daniel Morgan, goes to hand. He's still out there, still gives a discount on your kids want to order through there. So they stepped their game up. They got Nikes and stuff like that. Oh, yeah. Well, they put the the uh they put that water patch or water, but what do they call it, Mike? Like a water thing down there.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, like the one where all the kids jumping in.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, it's just squirting out of the yeah, yeah, that's concrete as what we grew up on. Yeah, you're talking about the fountain. We put we throw pennies in it and stuff, shoot. I take the checks.

SPEAKER_02:

But ours had layers like a fucking wedding.

SPEAKER_04:

Right. Right, right.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I remember that.

SPEAKER_04:

Mm-hmm. So to me, my thing is everybody calm down. I mean, growth is gonna happen in the c you know, regardless. But I'm with people on, you know, maybe keep some of the nostalgia, whatever, you know, a little bit. And it's sad to see stuff go because you know we grew, it's different when you grow up somewhere and then all it they tear something down, put in something new, but it happens. You know, areas are growing. I I remember Loudoun County was when I was a kid, when you drive down Route 7, oh, it was nothing but farmland. Now look at it. It's like a resting, leaving it's a city now. All of it's still built up. It's just it's gonna growth, it's gonna happen. Yeah, so that that's my thing. You just gotta adjust to it. It it is what it is.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, I don't mind I don't mind the growth, but like you know, like we're saying, it's we need more activities, you know.

SPEAKER_04:

Yep, I'm with you. That's the thing. I think ultimately it's just more things to do for people. Because I was actually talking to a lady at work, and and she said that that's funny, Mike. You say that because she's a younger girl and she's saying the same thing. She's just like, there's nothing to do around.

SPEAKER_02:

Which is why people always go to the city.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, it's she's just like there's nothing to do. And I'm like, I yeah, I get it. Unless you want to go out and eat to a fast food or a restaurant, maybe go catch a mood. That's about it. But hey, bring a sky zone in or something, a top golf. We got like there's something like that.

SPEAKER_02:

You know, I heard driving closed down for good recently.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, that well, I think they're trying to raise money though to keep it open. So I'd have I have to Chris, I gotta look into that because I I'm glad you brought it. I want to look into that. I'm actually gonna put that into my the family drive-in because I love that place. But I think they're trying to save it.

SPEAKER_02:

And there used to be one right over there by Northside Lanes.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I believe they're trying to save it. Like they started a GoFundMe and all this to raise money on that. But yeah, we gotta look into that. I'm glad you bring that up. Hell yeah, man. They're gonna drive in all the time, younger teenagers. Sneaking in and people in the trunk. You know, what's that mic?

SPEAKER_05:

Oh, just trying to save some money, I guess.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, yeah. There you go. Sneaking in the longest. What is it? I'm freezing. Cold? What are you sick? No, I just jumped out the ice bath.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, all right.

SPEAKER_04:

Next one. We'll jump into that. So, yeah, everybody, Winchester, chill out. Uh, we'll be all right. They're gonna build more roundabouts too, just to let you all know. So everybody loves those roundabouts. So anyway, Mike wanted to talk about uh Mike wanted to talk about ice baths and the health benefits of ice baths. So we're like, shit, fuck, okay. We'll talk about it. I've never took an ice bath ever in my life. Maybe I need to do it more, but the benefits of it, you know, uh, of ice baths. So go ahead, Mike. You brought it up. You know you're the help of and uh Dallas Payton. Thanks for joining us. So go ahead, Mike. Ice baths.

SPEAKER_05:

All right, thanks, Tony. That was a nice transition, Chris, by the way.

SPEAKER_04:

He's he's good at that.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, I mean, I started I just started doing like six to seven months ago. Um, I go to this place in Winchester called the Dribb Bar. Um, they have IV drip, but I've I've never done that. Um but they have a recovery room, they call it. And um basically they have a phone and a cold plant thing. Um but it's basically just water. I mean you can do it at home and put like ice in your bathtub or whatever, you know, to save some money. But it's kind of like all kinds of health benefits. I mean, I do it like five days a week, you know. I love it. You five days a week? Yep.

SPEAKER_04:

No, okay, go on. Like I thought maybe I thought yeah, I thought like you were supposed to pay it like maybe two times a week. Okay, fine. Go ahead, Mike. You know more. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, I mean, um they say it's okay to do it like every day. I mean, I don't know what I've done online, but um yeah, it it definitely um they say it's got like a lot of health benefits, like physically, it reduces inflammation, um you know, reduces muscle soreness and inflammation, um help individuals with arthritis or injuries. Man, I gotta do this.

SPEAKER_04:

So how so how so Mike, how how have you felt like you felt a lot better, like you know since you've been doing it?

SPEAKER_05:

I do, man. I mean um like more energy, you know what I mean? Like it's got like a lot of mental um benefits too. Like it's really yeah, it increases your um norepinephrine. That one's hard to pronounce and endorphins. That's all right, you're just like Trump. Okay, and then uh also increases your dopamine levels by it says up to 300%. I mean like your you know your feel-good chemicals or whatever. So you know it's like mood boosting and it helps with uh stress, you know, and alertness and all that all that good stuff.

SPEAKER_02:

But how long do you stay in the ice bath for?

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, good quick. Yeah, how long do you stay? It's not long, is it? You can't stay under that because it's so cold.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, it's it's pretty damn cold, man. Um, I stay in for a max of three minutes. Um that's all you need to get the benefits, is just three minutes, you know. Right.

SPEAKER_02:

I know I see like professional NFL and basketball players do it. Like sometimes they show a video with somebody like, oh, they're just be sitting in the ice bath, but yeah, I don't know about that, man.

SPEAKER_05:

It's gonna take long. I mean, I I definitely can tell like the mental um benefits of it. You know, less stress and just anxiety and everything. Um it definitely boosts your mood. As far as like the physical, I'm like still on the fence about it. I mean, I don't really work out or anything, so well at least not anymore. Not anymore. My buff city days are done. Shobby city now. There you go. Dad bot city. But you're just go ahead, Mike. I don't mean to cut you off. No, I mean you're good. I think it's beneficial though. Right, right.

SPEAKER_04:

See now with me.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I mean, I hey I think the biggest one, no lie, like stress is what's caused me to have so much brain stuff, especially since I moved up here. As much as fun as it's been, it's stressful. And then like you said, no headaches. I was knock on wood. I don't really get headaches, which is a blessing, but I could imagine the people that I see. They would sometimes they're like, I can't, I can't do anything. I got the headache. Like, so right. And even they say it's like every morning you're supposed to take a cool to a cold uh shower, at least, and not a hot one, and not meanwhile, like this morning when I'm thinking about oh, we got this scroll tonight about ice baths, and I'm sitting there like, ah, the water's nice and fucking hot. Like I think when I've grown up and I've had to take ice, ice showers, ice cold showers, I didn't like it. But it's a difference, maybe if you have to do it, then if you know, all right, that's freezing, I'll get the fuck out and I can get in something warm.

SPEAKER_01:

Right, right.

SPEAKER_02:

And it's already freezing outside, like in the fall and the winter, like it sucked, but it makes sense what you're saying, man. And I think the biggest one I'm taking away so far is no stress.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I look they didn't know that. Like, dude, I'm almost looking that now. How much does it cost? Does like your uh insurance coverage, or you know, like a massage if you go get a massage or therapy?

SPEAKER_05:

How does that work? Yeah, insurance doesn't cover it. I mean, um, they have memberships. I want to say I want to say mine um is like 88, but you can get like discounts, it's 88 a month. Right. Unlimited times or whatever.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, you go five days a week too, so it's worth it.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, I'm trying to get my money's worth, so I'll make myself go. You know, yeah. It's hard to get in there, but you know, I keep that in the back of my mind. I'm like, I'm paying for it, so I gotta get my money's worth.

SPEAKER_04:

Right, right. Hey, I love it, because I I'm with Chris about the whole mental thing. Because I'm big on mental health since I coach sports too, so yeah, I didn't know it helped with that too. You know, ice baths. So that that's very informative, Mike. I like it. I like it.

SPEAKER_02:

Go take an ice cold shower tonight or in the morning.

SPEAKER_04:

Mike, you're gonna have to send me info. I want to know this place too. I'm gonna I'm gonna have to try it out.

SPEAKER_02:

No, you got a call drip city or whatever.

SPEAKER_04:

Drip city, and where is it located?

SPEAKER_05:

Uh, the drip bar in Winchester. I'll send it to you though, too. Okay, where is it located at?

SPEAKER_04:

We'll give him a shout out. Shout him out.

SPEAKER_05:

In the um it's in a shopping center with like cold, Martins.

SPEAKER_04:

Um okay, so it's up here off Pleasant Valley. Yeah. Towards Wall. Okay, gotcha.

SPEAKER_05:

Especially if we're um Carters. Um, in the same center with uh cold and all that. Nice.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, man. Send me that info. I'm gonna definitely I'll I'll check that out for real.

SPEAKER_02:

Well now, do you incorporate anything else into your routine or like that kind of therapy that you deal with and you and you partake in? Because you know, that's an interesting thing. What what else is there that you might do that correlates to you taking those ice baths and trying to improve your health?

SPEAKER_05:

Well, they have the sauna in the um they have a sauna in the recovery room too.

SPEAKER_02:

So you just sit there and sweat the shit out, like that's right. Yeah, you sweat out you know, toxic.

SPEAKER_04:

I can't deal with saunas, man. Phew. No, no, I can't deal with that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05:

But go ahead, Mike. What yeah, you just get I usually get in the sauna um for like 15 minutes and then you get in the cold cold plunge tub.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, so you do the sauna for then you go into the yeah, but the other one that'd have to warm down.

SPEAKER_02:

I'd be like, oh, this sweating ain't bothering me now.

SPEAKER_05:

I used to do the um the cold plunge first and then the sauna, but everybody's singing online, it's like do the sauna first and then the cold plunge.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, right, because that's the same with like the people that where is it an ice or what they jump in those uh the water, the side, the hot pools. I I'm messing all up, but you know what I mean. Like said they're in the cold, but they jump in the warm springs or whatever they are, you know, that they do, they say it's beneficial for you. It's the same thing you're doing. So yeah. But Mike, that's that's awesome. I love it. I did not know that. I mean, I knew like Chris was saying, he mentioned you know, a lot of athletes do it, of course, you know, after Pratt, whatever, did take ice baths, and and a lot of musicians, whoever, you know, people that perform a lot are very physical, and they say it's very beneficial, like you you were saying, it's like that's what they claim, you know, the longevity of going so long. You know, like with LeBron James is a great example. You know, I mean, look at the man, he's been playing for 40 years, you know. So hey, I love it. Uh yeah, send me that info, man. All right, I'm I'm definitely gonna check that out. Everybody, there you go. Some health, some health benefits right there. Get on them ice baths. Everybody start feeling better, energetic, positive. And so, Chris, what's the next topic? Let's keep it moving.

SPEAKER_02:

We're gonna change from the class of 98 and move on over to your old ass 1970s class of 97.

SPEAKER_04:

See, here you go.

SPEAKER_02:

But I'll choice aka Buck. Uh, he asked us to talk about something that he thought would be a good topic, and we agree. And it's um the same way that these student athletes can make the Hall of Fame, even though it sucks at handling. Yeah, I love that 20 years, but LA Anderson and Lane Campbell and the part logos and everybody else, they can make the hall of fame. What about the teachers? And his question was do you do we think and do people think that school teachers should have a hall of fame? I think that's a great question.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I did dude. I love it. Like they Troy was trying to say, you know, shout out to Troy Sloan, you know, for bringing this up. And uh hey, we'll discuss it. Should we have a teacher's hall of fame? Yeah, hey, welcome, Robert. Robert's on too, but uh Robert Fowler. So hey, everybody chime in. Do you feel give your opinion? Should there be a teacher's hall of fame? And we feel, yeah, like, hey, let's praise all these educators and the ones who set the ground for a lot of these student athlete or anybody in life.

SPEAKER_02:

My question, I think, was what would the criteria be? The same way that that Robert Fowler and John Thompson and Lang Campbell and all these people have to have a certain criteria to meet, right? The school teachers' criteria. That yeah, that's a great question. A certain amount of leaders, a certain amount of you know what I mean, nominations on certain awards, about a certain amount of percentage of students that that's passed their classes.

SPEAKER_04:

I was gonna say that, yeah.

SPEAKER_05:

I was gonna say, what do y'all think? Go ahead, Mike. I was gonna say probably that's a good one, probably the amount of students that pass. Um like factor in multiple things, like the amount of students that have passed, and then how long they've been um teaching, too.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, so you can't be there for two years and be like, yeah, I'm I'm already on my hall of fame.

SPEAKER_04:

Right. Like, and and that's the thing too. Uh what they do extracurricular, like outside of, you know, maybe they're achieving involved in the school a lot without those and the committee, you know, like say the chess team and debate to, you know, because a lot of teachers help with that, you know, outside of school. What do they do? Extracurricular stuff, you know, go that extra mile to do a lot more for the kids in the community would be a criteria. Yeah. So hey, I agree. That's the thing. That's all it's a great question. And I and I feel teachers, yeah, they need their flowers too while they're a lot of them, you know. So who is let's I wanna ask you guys who who is a few teachers off the top of here? Who would you put if we had a whole fame? Who would you want in there? Who's your favorite teachers?

SPEAKER_02:

Pick three teachers.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, go ahead, Chris. Start it off.

SPEAKER_02:

Just three. I'm gonna just go real quick, then I'm gonna I'm gonna pick Mr. Haston, Mr. Blyn, and and Mr. Gowdy. Shout out to Mr. Gowdy, put them bow ties on. You knew it was quiz.

SPEAKER_04:

There's good, there's good ones. There's good ones. So I'll go Mike, we'll let you go last. So you're the guest, you're the guest uh the guest of honor. I'm gonna go with elementary school, Miss Weatherton. If everybody remembers her, she was my third grade. Awesome. I always remember her and took things she said through life. It's from third grade. And then I would go uh Mr. Touchstone. Love that guy. And then I'd have to say Mr. Uthman, if you guys remember him. Yeah, I like Mr. Uthman too. He's a government uh teacher, history teacher, Haley. He was cool. But there's there's so many teachers. There's there's a lot, there's so many. That you know, but Mike, go ahead.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, I mean, I agree with you guys. I'll I'll be the third one to say Mr. Gowdy. Um I'd probably say Mr. Linden. Um Ron Lindon. Yeah, I like and then I wrote down a bunch of them, but maybe Mr.

SPEAKER_04:

Shoot go. Hey, go ahead, spit them out, give it, give them, shout them out. I said Mr.

SPEAKER_05:

Cush Tone, um, you know, Ray France. He was good. Mr. France was awesome.

SPEAKER_04:

He was all and remember, he was the one who had that huge dictionary in his room, right? With like every word, you get that slang word.

SPEAKER_02:

Talking about getting into a hall of fame, he also was the one that was like Patrick Brooks on the carry. That was him. Yeah, he said all that back in the day.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, good shout out on that one, Mike.

SPEAKER_04:

She might probably made a list of 10 teachers. Who else you got?

SPEAKER_05:

I just wrote down a bunch. Um, let's see, Lyndon March, she was good, George Glosner. Glossner, Glossner, oh man, yeah. Ray Burn. I mean, he was the one, you know, um, in weight training or whatever.

SPEAKER_02:

Big Tony. Back when we had those old school weight rooms, man. You remember that? We had like 10 weights in there.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I remember all I all I remember in weight training was they were all about the football players, and they were just like, get the creatine, get the because that's when creatine first came, and they're like, get this, get this. Yeah, amino acids or whatever. Mm-hmm.

unknown:

Right.

SPEAKER_04:

Other stuff, too. Right, right. Who else you got? You got any more? I think that was.

SPEAKER_02:

I want to shout out Miss Anderson from uh Daniel Morgan's sixth grade. Miss Anderson.

SPEAKER_04:

Daniel Morgan? I think I remember her. Oh man. As everybody says we all went to city school, we went to Winchester schools. So if anybody else has teachers out there. Yeah, that stand out. I still got a list to go on, Tony. Go you got more? Do you have more you want to shout? Go ahead. Shout them out, Chris. Oh, Mike, go ahead.

SPEAKER_05:

You got more? I think that was it for me. Well, Chris. Mike, uh you said Miss Dorsey the other day, didn't you? Yeah, Miss Dorsey. 10th grade English. I don't think I had her, but I remember you giving her a shout-out the other day.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, yeah, Miss Dorsey.

SPEAKER_04:

Right, right. Mike, you can't forget your mom though. Now, see, does this guy Mike's mom, Miss Alger, remember was librarian, right? Oh Danny Morgan. But that's another thing. Did we put like librarians in this hall of fame? Hey, maybe even custodians, because man, I always remember Mr. Long at Frederick Douglass. That was my man. Yeah, man, Mr. Long was awesome. I'd walk down the hallway and be like, hey, you want another chocolate mill? He'd be handing them out for free. The kid just hand you all kinds of snacks. Hey, do we do we take this beyond and go, hey, janitors?

SPEAKER_02:

Well, they're all part of the education and school board. If they make a difference in a child's life, that's important.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, the cafeteria ladies, you know.

SPEAKER_02:

Hey, what happened, hey the free cookie.

SPEAKER_04:

But I love it. Hey, that's the thing. So, hey, look, I don't know who we got to get in contact with or whatever.

SPEAKER_02:

We're gonna have Carl and the school board on, so that's true.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, we're gonna have Carl Rush on soon, so we can talk to him about it. Maybe we can get something going at a teacher's hall of fame. So, Choice, you might have started something, man. It's gonna be all because of you. You brought it out there to the light. We got to give you your credit for it. You just didn't want to get on.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, so I love it. He's also a member of that 94 on the feet of Handley team.

SPEAKER_04:

Right, Robert, what you talking about? The dungeon, the basement in Handley.

SPEAKER_02:

Robert's gonna talk about he's probably talking about the weight room and shit.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, the base, it was in the base and like 10 weights.

SPEAKER_02:

The only one that could lift them when I went there was Freddie.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, I was not lifting with Freddie, he would definitely make me look bad. Like, hold on, you gotta take off five of these plates on each side. Right, yeah, you know, put up four or five hundred pounds. Like, dude, I'm only doing like 150.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, Coach Dixon's like, you lift weights. I'm like, Yeah, I went down there and worked on my calves real quick so I can dunk. I came right back to the gym.

SPEAKER_04:

Right. I wonder if Freddie still holds records.

SPEAKER_02:

I gotta ask. Stephen Daly broke one of his records.

SPEAKER_04:

Did he?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, did he? Okay. Actually, doing shout-outs before Stephen Daly, who just caused a big interception and upset the number three team in the nation this week in Hanley's own Steve.

SPEAKER_04:

Right, yep. Hey, he made the big play towards the end of the game.

SPEAKER_02:

Nobody goes to the NFL, man. And even if he doesn't, I wish him the best, man. But to be a Winchester and a Hanley kid, that's awesome. And they're and they're seventh in the nation right now. Their coach has got an eight-year extension today. And uh, I think they're number four in the nation.

SPEAKER_04:

Yep, right. So does it let's jump into college football, if y'all follow it. Uh Shannon Dole. Speaking of that Indiana and Oregon game, that was a big game, and hey, Indiana showed up. They make the play. I think, dude, they have a great chance of winning the national. They have a great chance of winning the national championship. They could very well do it. That'd be dope. And how awesome would that be? Yeah, hometown boy from Haley win the national championship. That would be a good one.

SPEAKER_02:

From from Virginia because that coach in the JMU two years ago to go.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, he took it. A lot of them transferred, yeah, when he was at I think a lot of people forget he started out at uh JMU and he turned up. They were just stomping people when he was there. And that's how they moved up to D1. So because of that coach. But yeah, uh, let's get into NFL now, because I know y'all don't follow college football like I do.

SPEAKER_02:

So you already got in the end and in uh Oregon straight to NFL.

SPEAKER_04:

Because we're shouting out Stephen Daly.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, you know, I'm cool with that, but I know you want to talk about CD being back. Who me and Mike tell you what it means all the time. CD's nuts. Mike tells anyway.

SPEAKER_04:

What about Dallas? So who so we got we got Dallas, Dallas, and Washington, the big game. Who wins?

SPEAKER_02:

Well, of course, we don't want to pick or not. Who wins? Jaden just lost on that fumble against the Bears, so he's not gonna lose this week.

SPEAKER_04:

Y'all didn't look, y'all didn't look good. Y'all didn't look good. You want to dog us because we lost to the Bears, and then look what happened. No, y'all just got beat by Carolina. And then when I said Carolina beat the Falcons 30 to nothing, then turn around and the Falcons beat the Bills. Yeah, the parody of the parody of the NFL.

SPEAKER_02:

It's a weird football season, but one thing like one of the only concepts in the last 10 years is probably Dak losing. He can have 300 yards every game. He loses.

SPEAKER_04:

It's a team sport.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, he plays for your team and y'all lose.

SPEAKER_04:

There's there's two sides. Football is different than a lot of sports. There's two sides of the ball. You can't blame a quarterback. I mean, look. You can't put it on Dak or any quarterback for that. If you don't have a defense, you can put up 30 points a game, they're gonna give up 35.

SPEAKER_02:

Dak and Dow's losers.

SPEAKER_04:

It's been the same since they had Romo. Romo never had a defense. Yeah, we we just don't have a defense. I'm cool with that.

SPEAKER_02:

How about you?

SPEAKER_04:

How can we be how could we be the number one ranked offense, averaging, I think, 29 points a game, but we have the worst defense giving up 30 points a game.

SPEAKER_02:

Because your defense gets scored on so quick and so often that you're gonna walk back a lot, and that's how y'all end up scoring a lot because y'all have the ball so much.

SPEAKER_04:

It's it's bad.

SPEAKER_02:

The other team is going to look get out of here.

SPEAKER_04:

Like, don't sit there and say, oh, we score a lot because they get the ball so much. No, we can't we can't stop you if you was in we can't stop you if you was in the backfield. That's how bad our defense is. You could play against us and probably get 50 yards at least.

SPEAKER_02:

When we were little, Dallas didn't have a little week game. They was not even around. When these teams have now, they should be gone again.

SPEAKER_04:

They're horrible. The defense is horrible.

SPEAKER_02:

Nah, but if y'all beat us, I'll be sick. No lie, I might have to call it.

SPEAKER_04:

But I have a couple questions. I won't worry.

SPEAKER_02:

I won't see the game.

SPEAKER_05:

Maybe we can zoom the game.

SPEAKER_02:

But I gotta be at work.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh yeah, but I have a couple questions for you guys. Like who, in your eyes right now, is leading in the MVP race in the NFL.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, we said last week Baker. Yeah, everybody said Baker Mayfield. Mahomes is gonna creep back up in there.

SPEAKER_04:

Hey, Rashid Rice is back. I got him on my fantasy.

SPEAKER_02:

And Xavier Worthy's back. Yeah, he's getting his players healthy.

SPEAKER_04:

They're getting healthy. Yep. I'm playing you this week, Tony. Oh. You're about to get that ass beat. Yeah, I think you're from Texas. My fantasy lineup is like the the Chiefs. Everybody's coming back healthy at the right time, and they're gonna start rolling.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, I didn't even want to do fantasy this year, ladies and gentlemen, but because of these two of my brodies, EJ, and everybody else that's in it, I was like, it's just fun to hang with the guys and talk shit. Yeah, but uh I started week one, I lost to Mr. Mike Hamrick, our guest this week. 0.12 points. Not 0.2 points, not one point, 0.12. He beat me one and five. I'm awful. I threw$100 away, but it is what it is. It's fun to hang out with the guys.

SPEAKER_04:

But right and right, you guys are good.

SPEAKER_02:

Good win by Mike, like I said, but my teammates.

SPEAKER_05:

I barely beat you that week, though.

SPEAKER_02:

I know, but that's all it took.

SPEAKER_04:

Hey, well, guys, let's let's end with uh let's end with uh local picks. We didn't pick our game, so Mike, you can jump in if you know any uh about high school sports, or you just wait. We pick who we like. All right, so this Friday, James Wood versus Liberty. Who wins?

SPEAKER_02:

Wood.

SPEAKER_04:

I'll just I'm with you. I'll go with that too.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, right. Liberty's not near us, they down the street.

SPEAKER_04:

So Meridian, Meridian and Brentsville.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, neither one of them, but I'm that game.

SPEAKER_04:

I'm going with uh Brentsville. I'm going Meridian. I think Meridian wins. Uh Warren County and Falk here. Both one both one and five. Warren, you think I don't know, I think Falk here wins that one.

SPEAKER_02:

I said Falk here will win, but I want Oh, I thought you okay, guys. Warren County's our our area school too. Falk here, they down the road.

SPEAKER_04:

What's that, Mike?

SPEAKER_05:

I'll say Warren County for that one.

SPEAKER_04:

Yep. All right. Then we got the big one, uh, Skyline versus Millbrook. It's at Millbrook.

SPEAKER_02:

And Skyline's further away than Millbrook. Millbrook, I'm not sorry. Y'all weren't around and Zaydan plays for them. Let's go Skyline.

SPEAKER_04:

I'm with you. I'm I'm leaning towards Skyline in that one. I think Zaydon runs all over Millbrook.

SPEAKER_02:

And young Dre plays for him, and and uh even butter Haley, like Kamisha and them's people. Yeah, no, let's go Skyline. Yeah, I'll go with Skyline.

SPEAKER_04:

All right, uh Sharando versus Kettle Run.

SPEAKER_02:

I got Sharando because they're our team compared to the fucking Kettle. What'd you say they are? I want them to win. Sharando?

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

I'm with you. The one that beat Hanley?

SPEAKER_04:

Ket Kettle Run. Sounds like a popcorn. Like it's the name of a brand of popcorn. Yeah, give me that kettle run. So I got I got Sirando winning that. I think Sharando, they're they're tough. They're they're all we always praise it. They always got a great press.

SPEAKER_00:

That should be the game of the week.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah. Well, yeah, that one definitely gave us. They're both five and one right now. So then uh last one, of course, on Saturday, you got Haley and Manassas Park. We'll just move on.

SPEAKER_02:

Manass fucking 0 and 7.

SPEAKER_04:

They said, we'll just Haley should drop 70, 80. They could if they want to, but that that won't even be a game. Poor Manassas Park. So moving on to West Virginia, you got Washington versus Martinsburg.

SPEAKER_05:

I'd go Martinsburg for that one.

SPEAKER_04:

I'm with you.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, you said Washington. Is it Washington and Lee?

SPEAKER_04:

No, just Washington High School.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that's weird. They got George Washington, Washington, and Washington. I know. Uh who you got, Chris? Uh I know it's Martinsville. I'm thinking the Bulldogs, the orange and black team.

SPEAKER_04:

They should. They should win that one. Uh then you got Muscle Man and Hedgesville. I'm thinking Muslim because we played against them. I'm gonna go Hedgesville. I think they're gonna get their first win, they're 0-6.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh Muslim has Sonic and Front Hedges or whatever, the hedgehog. The last one Spring Mills.

SPEAKER_04:

Spring Mills and uh against university. They're called University.

SPEAKER_02:

I got Spring Mills because they're nice. I've got Spring Mills. Isn't Spring Mills still good? Yeah, they're still yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, so I I take Spring Mills in that one. So there's your local sport, there's our picks. Guy hey Mike, thanks for coming on. You know, enjoyed it.

SPEAKER_02:

Your ice bath stuff was very at least start by trying to take a cooler or colder shower. It'll wake you up to start to do it. Not that I do it, like the ice baths and stuff, but every now and then I'll turn the water cold because I already know that mindset. But I'm just I ain't gonna lie, I'm a punk, man.

SPEAKER_04:

I can't say hold on. Before we get off, we got people watching, right? We wanted to start this new segment, unpopular opinion. Remember? Everybody just uh give us an what's an unpopular opinion, you know, of a day, give some suggestions like Troy you know gave it a topic, so you know, hey, what's what's an unpopular opinion right now? It'd be the little segment and see if somebody chimes in or gives something, you know.

SPEAKER_02:

An unpopular opinion? Yeah. So you got you're asking for the guest. Who who the hell's watching right now? Because we can't see it.

SPEAKER_04:

Got Dallas on, I believe Dallas Payton, Robert Fowler's watching, C John Natler. There's people watching.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, C. Russ. Yeah, so yeah, if one of them wants to come up with a topic or just holla at something, yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Or what's on your mind? Something.

SPEAKER_02:

You know. So, but Mike about how Christian went went to play football, and then all of a sudden Hamley got smoked, and then now they got a loss. He he wants to keep breaking that up. And then Christian's gonna be like, I don't like the uncle no more, Daddy.

SPEAKER_04:

Jeez. Hey, all I'm gonna say is throw it up. That's it. I told a few people that, and even people agree. It's like dude, he's 6'5, 6'6.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, who is your current player of the year in the area? Winchester current player of the year.

SPEAKER_04:

Because it's not in the area, the player of the year right now. Yeah, that's that's a good question. And James Wood got a lot of like I have to go with the boy. What's the boy? You just mentioned it. I have to go with the boy from James Wood right now. That's Barney. You want to back with a receiver that got five or five times. Owen Owen Neal, I believe, is his name. Is that his name? I might be wrong.

SPEAKER_02:

No lie. James Wood and Sharando might both beat Haney if Christian and then Hanley don't get it together. Right, right.

SPEAKER_04:

But Jojo John, we know he definitely will be defensive player of the year. We know that. He should be.

SPEAKER_02:

He's the best player, but some of the stats aren't standing out to compared to others.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, it's not standing out. I looked at the stats. I meant to bring that up. He's like middle of the pack in tackles and stuff. But the thing is, people know who he is now. They're keying on, you know, they're trying to double team.

SPEAKER_02:

But I'm just saying, like James Woods is good, man. So Haley better get ready.

SPEAKER_04:

Right. Yep. Well, guys, hey, it was fun. Mike, hey, come on anytime you want, man. Always available. You want to shout out your podcast or whatever you any shout-outs you want to do.

SPEAKER_05:

Um basically like a review show of your brother Jason. Um his um lost rhetoric. So the best way to describe it's like a spoof.

SPEAKER_04:

SPEAKER_02:
